Comparison
Foliosio vs. Intercom
Both products handle customer conversations. The similarities end there. They're designed for companies at different stages, with different support models and different cost structures.
Who each product is designed for
Intercom is designed for companies with dedicated customer support teams. Its routing rules, team inboxes, SLA tracking, and agent performance reports all assume multiple people share the support workload. Most of its pricing reflects at least one full-time support seat.
Foliosio is designed for founders who are personally handling support. There are no team inboxes, no agent routing, no seat licenses. One person, one inbox, all channels.
Setup
Intercom requires meaningful setup. You configure team inboxes, define routing rules, set up integrations, and train the AI on your content. For a company with a support team, this pays off. For a solo founder, it's overhead with no one to share it with.
Foliosio is intended to be running in under fifteen minutes. Connect an email address, embed a chat widget, write a few paragraphs about your product. The AI uses that context from the start.
Pricing
Intercom prices per seat. The Essential plan starts at $29/seat/month and includes Fin AI Agent. Each conversation Fin resolves costs $0.99 on top of the seat price, which adds up quickly at any real support volume. Check Intercom's pricing page for current figures before making a decision.
Foliosio prices by conversation volume. Free plan covers 50 conversations per month. Paid plans start at €19/month for 300 conversations. AI is included at every tier. There are no per-seat charges regardless of how many times you use the inbox.
In practice: a solo founder handling 200 conversations per month pays €19 with Foliosio. The equivalent Intercom setup, including an AI-capable tier, costs substantially more.

Where Intercom is stronger
If you have more than one person handling support, Intercom's team features are relevant. Assignment, routing, escalation, and team performance metrics are well-developed.
Intercom's product goes significantly beyond reactive support. In-app tours, outbound messaging campaigns, and behavioral targeting are built in. If you want to use one platform for customer communication across support, marketing, and product activation, Intercom can handle it.
At scale, Intercom's analytics and reporting are more detailed and customizable.
Where Foliosio fits better
For a solo founder, the team-oriented features in Intercom are irrelevant overhead, and paying per seat when you're the only person in the inbox is hard to justify.
Foliosio's AI is designed for a founder doing first-pass review. Draft mode lets you review every reply before it sends, which is appropriate oversight for an early product where each customer conversation carries real weight. Full Auto mode is available once you trust the quality.
Conversation-based pricing means your costs scale with usage, not headcount. A slow month doesn't cost more than a busy one.
